Others are earned, one step, one role, one challenge at a time.
Dave Thomas’ journey at Rig Source is the definition of what it means to show up, put in the work, and grow through it.
Dave started on April 7th, 2011, not in a leadership role, not behind a desk, but as a clean-up kid. Pressure washing units, sweeping floors and stepping in wherever help was needed. The kind of work that doesn’t always get noticed… but builds the foundation for everything that comes next.
One year later, he moved into parts, learning the ins and outs of components, shipments, and customer needs.
By 2013, he stepped into shipping and receiving, managing logistics for inbound and outbound equipment while helping coordinate rigs moving through the yard.
In 2017, Dave took on rentals, a role that would shape much of his path forward. From coordinating equipment to managing logistics, he became a key piece of keeping operations running smoothly. By 2019, he stepped into Rental Manager, leading that department and continuing to grow.
In 2023, Dave moved into Operations Manager, helping bring new branches online, training leadership, and supporting the growth of the company from the inside out.
And today, as Service and Operations Manager, Dave is the go-to. Leading the service department, solving problems, supporting customers, and guiding the team through whatever comes next.
But what makes Dave’s story stand out isn’t just the roles, it’s how he’s shown up in every one of them.
It’s the pride he takes in seeing a rebuild through from start to finish.
It’s the willingness to help a customer over the phone just to keep them drilling.
It’s the investment he makes in his team, watching them grow, take on challenges, and succeed together.
That’s leadership. And that’s earned.
Outside of work, Dave brings that same dedication to what matters most.
From bowling leagues with his dad, to golfing with friends and connecting with people in the industry, to spending time with his son maintaining their fish tanks, he’s someone who values both hard work and the moments that come with it.
15 years later, Dave’s story is still being written, but one thing is clear:
He didn’t just grow with Rig Source. He helped build it.
